Ben Heppner

Born in Murrayville, British Columbia, Ben Heppner has lived most of his adult life in Scarborough. He is a critically acclaimed opera singer recognized world-wide as the finest dramatic tenor before the public today. His magnificent voice, intelligent musicianship and sparkling dramatic sense have set new standards. Ben began his studies at the University of British Colombia Music School in 1974, and won the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Talent Competition just five years later. He made his United Sates debut at Carnegie Hall in a command Performance before the King and Queen of Sweden in 1988, and his European debut one year later at the Royal Swedish Opera. He has been awarded numerous distinctions including several honorary doctorates from Canadian universities. His recordings have been crowned with a wealth of prestigious awards.
